- Pop. 21. In Kingston T., Frontenac C. on C. Rds. 3 & 9, 11 km N of Kingston.
- The place was frrst known as Scott's Corners. When the post office opened in 1853, residents requested the name Elgin to honour Governor General James Bruce, eighth Earl of Elgin.
- Another community already had that name, so the name Elginburg was chosen.
